because lack of road signs. Be very cautious of railroad crossings and
trains.
Churchill Falls to Labrador (148 miles) Churchill Falls has some facilities
gas, groceries. Road conditions are well-made gravel road with plenty of
straight sections. Plenty of facilities in Labrador city but there is nothing
between Labrador city and Churchill Falls.
Labrador City to Mount Wright (25 miles) about 11 miles out side of
Mount Wright is the little town of Fermont with gas, food, hotel. Paved
road in good condition.
Mount Wright to Fire Lake 39 miles No facilities Twisting gravel road
crosses railroad tracks about eight times, must stop and look each time for
iron ore trains.
Fire Lake to Gagnon 55 miles No facilities, paved but very old.
Gagon to Manic Five (ghost Town) 110 miles (175 kms) Gas, restaurant
and accommodations at Motel Relias Gabriel. Road conditions are highly
maintained gravel but keep to the right at the top of all hills.
Manic Five to Baie Comeau, Gas and accommodations at Energy Motel,
gas and snacks about all there is. This is a paved road (133 miles) good
condition, hills and many sharp turns with SOS phones every 20-40 kms
(13-25 miles).
